What is Plantega?

Plantega simply serves up bodega classics, but makes them 100% plant-based (and 100% better!). We are not a plant-based bodega; instead, we empower New York City’s independent stores with the latest plant-based products via a unique plant-based-deli-in-store model which allows them to make additional revenue by meeting the rising demand for plant-based food. We provide stores with all the ingredients, training, and operational and marketing support to sell our great tasting food at their deli counters.

Is Plantega available in my neighborhood or borough?

Plantega can currently be found in bodegas across all five boroughs of New York City. Check out our store locator and look for the Plantega A-Frame, menu, and other signage at the deli.

How can I add Plantega to my local bodega?

What are the most popular Plantega sandwiches?

Bodega cooks often say that the Chopped Cheese, Spicy Breakfast Burrito, and Steak, Egg & Cheese Burrito are the best-selling items. For delivery orders, the most popular items are currently the Create-Your-Own option, Steak, Egg & Cheese Burrito, Chopped Cheese, and Philly Cheesesteak!

Is the Plantega menu nut-free?

Yes! All of our menu items are currently nut-free. Some of the products we use do contain coconut oil, so if that’s a concern then we recommend looking up the specific products on each of our brand partners individual websites to view their most up-to-date ingredient lists.

Please be advised that Plantega is on a mission to make plant-based food more accessible everywhere by empowering independent corner stores. Plantega does NOT own or operate any of the kitchens where our menus are prepared and we cannot guarantee that our menu items are prepared in an allergen-free environment and free from cross contamination. For serious allergy concerns we recommend talking with the operator of the kitchen that is preparing the food about their specific protocols!

Is the Plantega menu gluten-free?

The only two ingredients currently on our menu (besides bread/tortillas!) that contain gluten are the Beyond Chicken Pieces and Daring Breaded Chicken Patties. However, we recommend looking up the specific products on each of our brand partners individual websites to view their most up-to-date ingredient lists. Additionally, most bodegas will let you bring and give them your own gluten-free bread to make your sandwich/wrap with! However, this may not be suitable for serious gluten allergies and we recommend inquiring further with the staff at the deli about the risk of cross-contamination, etc.

It’s a fact: plant-based eating is healthier for you and the planet. We make it fun and easier for you to enjoy classic sandwiches you crave like Chopped Cheese, Sausage Egg and Cheese, and more.
